A: You are NOT alone. Indiana Family to Family understands that the stress and anxiety of an unexpected medical diagnosis can be overwhelming. Indiana Family to Family staff are parents of children with additional needs. Whether you just need someone to talk to, or you need help accessing services for your child, we are here for you and will assure you that you are not alone.
Q: My child was just diagnosed with additional health care needs. What can I do to help my child?
A: Contact Indiana Family to Family to speak with a Resource Specialist. We will listen to your concerns, provide resources, and discuss your options with you.
Q: I need resources for my child, where can I get information?
A: Contact Indiana Family to Family. Our Resource Specialists will connect you with resources to help families of children with additional health and education needs.

Q: My family is struggling to pay for healthcare. What are my options?
A: Call to speak to a Resource Specialist who will guide you through public or private health insurance questions and options available.
Q: I'm concerned about my child's educational needs or Individualized Education Plan (IEP). What can I do?
A: Call to speak to a Resource Specialist who will guide you through what your child is entitled to and the process of working with your school.
Q: Do I need a referral to receive Indiana Family to Family services?
A: Families do not need a referral to receive services from Indiana Family to Family. Indiana Family to Family helps any family member of a child with additional health or education needs.
Q: What is the cost to use Indiana Family to Family services?
A: There is no cost. We are a donor-, contract- and grant-funded service to families.
Q: Can you attend my Case Conference with my child’s school?
A: No. Family Resource specialists do not attend IEP meetings; however, they will help you understand your rights and the process.
Q: Can Indiana Family to Family be my family's advocate and call the agency I am having problems with?
A: No. Indiana Family to Family works with families and helps guide them through the systems and find the resources to empower them.
Q: Can I refer people to Indiana Family to Family?
A: Absolutely. Indiana Family to Family is happy to help any family of a child with additional needs that need our services. Referrals can come from any source.
Q: Are you a government agency?
A: No. Indiana Family to Family does receive government grants as well as contracts with managed health corporations. Indiana Family to Family is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit human service organization that serves the state of Indiana.
Q: We are well off financially; can you help our family?
A: Yes. Indiana Family to Family helps families of children with additional needs regardless of income. As part of our mission, we support families raising children or youth who require additional health or educational assistance by providing answers, resources, practical training, and vital community connections.
Q: Is Indiana Family to Family new?
A: Indiana Family to Family was created in January 2022 from a merger of two well-established Indiana organizations: About Special Kids and Family Voices Indiana.
