Accessing recreational programs often requires additional planning and preparation to minimize stress and challenges. It may be helpful to contact parks, recreational vendors, and attractions prior to visiting so that you can find out more information about available accessibility and accommodations. Access PassSeveral cultural institutions across the state of Indiana have joined forces to offer an Access Pass, which offers eligible families the opportunity to visit participating attractions for just $5 per family member per visit. To qualify for an Access Pass, families must participate in one or more of the following state assistance programs:
To apply for a pass online, visit: www.childrensmuseum.org/visit/access-pass, and follow these steps:
To apply for a pass in-person, visit any of the participating venues listed below (except Dance Kaleidoscope, the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Indianapolis Ballet, Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, and the NCAA Hall of Champions) and show an Indiana-issued photo ID and proof of state assistance (confirm the necessary documents prior to your arrival). Access Passes are renewable annually. Participating venues include:
Check with the participating venue prior to your visit to ensure program participation and family eligibility, particularly for special events or programs. Indiana Department of Natural Resources Golden Hoosier PassportIndiana residents who are at least 65 years of age or are a resident eligible for Social Security Disability Income payments under 42 USC 401 may be entitled to a Golden Hoosier Passport: https://www.in.gov/dnr/state-parks/rates-and-fees/entrance-fees/, which offers a 50% discount on annual entrance pass fees*. Proof of eligibility must be presented at time of purchase, and the disabled individual must be present in the vehicle at time of use. The only Indiana State Historic Sites that the Golden Hoosier Passport is valid at are those owned and operated by the Department of Natural Resources.
The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Access PassThe National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Access Pass is available free for eligible US citizens or permanent residents with permanent disabilities. Applications may be submitted in-person or online. Photo ID and proof of permanent disability is required. This Access Pass provides free entrance to all participating Federal Recreation sites, including Indiana Dunes National Park.
